Real name: Rev. Richard Wayne Penniman

Biography: Little Richard a famous Pianist, song writer born on December 5, 1932 in Logtown Road in Yatesville, Georgia. He grew up in a religious family , in spite of poverty, racism, it was the singing made him close to GOD. His family was having a singing group called Penniman Singers who were performing in local churches and singing contests with other singing groups. His family was calling Little Richard as “War Hawks” for his loud and screaming voice. Esquerita (Eskew Reeder Jr.) was Richard’s influence in his early musical career ,he taught him the art of playing piano in high notes without compromising with the bass.


Richard is considered an important figure in the transition of Rhythm and blues to rock and Roll in 1950s.he became famous for his series of hits like "Tutti Frutti", "Lucille" and "Long Tall Sally”, during 1955 to 1957 which helped to lay the foundation for rock and roll music. Little Richard early days of career was a mix of boogie-woogie, rhythm & blues and gospel music, and funky saxophone grooves and raspy shouted vocals.
In 1957 when he was in peak of his career he became a born-again Christian, to participate in and attend the Bible College, withdrew from recording and performing secular music.

Little Richard has won wide acclaim from many performances and James Brown treated Little Richard as his idol. Dick Clark termed his music as Role model for every Rock and Roll performer of 50s. Rolling Stone chose him as 8th greatest artist of all time. He has been a magnificent performer and constant entertaining appearances on television talk shows which was ensuring his continuing success as a living legend.
